Only the "real" know: these are Barcelona's secret beaches, according to an expert

Here are two Barcelona beach spots that locals jealously keep secret.

Barcelona is a safe bet for a city break or a sunny holiday. The great Catalan city offers a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere. Historic neighborhoods, tapas bars, almost guaranteed sunshine, coolness (or not) on Monjuic Hill... The cocktail is effective. The problem is, it's as well-known as the mojito. How can you avoid the wave of tourists, especially around the famous Barceloneta beach, which is besieged by tourists as soon as the first rays of sunshine appear? The mission isn't impossible, provided you know a few secret spots...

A local expert kindly gave us her best spots ( you can find them all here ), starting with some more secret beaches! Our expert has chosen two, both easily accessible, even without a car. The first is El Prat de Llobregat (photo below), near the airport of the same name and the football stadium of Espanyol Barcelona, the city's second club, which lives in the shadow of the great Barça.

This virtually unspoiled beach is easily accessible on foot, by bike via a wide cycle path, or by bus via the PR3 line. It has the advantage of being located in a protected area, the Delta del Llobregat, and its existence is jealously guarded by the locals. And for good reason: its beach huts, fine sand, and generous size are just what you'd expect from a postcard. They guarantee a haven of tranquility, far from the overcrowded atmosphere of the famous but crowded Las Ramblas.

The second spot is Badalona (pictured below), a small tourist town near Barcelona that offers several beaches. Don't worry, these are easily accessible by metro from Barcelona city center.

All you have to do is take the L2 line and stop at the Badalona-Pompeu Fabra station. While the small spot overlooking the pontoon (formerly the Petroli Bridge) is a highly Instagrammable and widely shared spot, the beach opposite the station offers a beautiful view of Barcelona and guarantees a much more local atmosphere than in Barceloneta. All that's left is to discover it: Vamos?!
